Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre - July 2024
Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre
Welcome to Episode 2 of my four-part series on Vancouver. If you've watched Episode 1 on You Tube, or read the blog post, then you know the plan.
Over the years, I've done a number of site inspections and enjoyed personal stays at this centrally located Vancouver Hotel.
I've never been disappointed.
In its heart of hearts, the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre is a 4-star business hotel consisting of the 48-story North Tower and its slightly older sibling just across the open plaza, the 35-story South Tower. Together, they have 746 sleeping rooms and suites and over 55,000 sq ft of meeting and conference space.
Don’t let my business hotel comment keep you from considering the property as a home for an incentive program.
Everything you might need for a successful reward is here.
On my most recent visit, the experience began when we stepped out of the transportation at the front of the South Tower.
The room product and its amenities check all the boxes, including free wi-fi and great views from higher floors that confirm you're in a special destination.
To expand on the views, here’s a quick look from my corner room on the 24th floor, One from the terrace of the Club Lounge on the 25th floor, and one from the terrace of the Constellation Suite on the 34th floor of the South Tower.
As you cross the plaza to the North Tower, look up and you can see the conference space. Note the abundance of natural light
Once in the North Tower lobby, take the escalator to the 2nd level.
I think you’d agree that Corporate and association meetings, retreats, and conferences will all feel at home at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, thanks to its ample pre-function and meeting space.
Sales Team -
Now, about the sales team - From my first visit in the mid 90's until now, the sales team has always been one I looked forward to connecting with. The same is true today.
If you don't know or haven't spent time with Owen Chiu, Director of Group Sales, you’re missing out.
Perhaps my favorite thing about Owen is her ability to offer intelligent and thoughtful solutions and opportunities.
The worst thing that might happen when you connect with Owen is you will have made a new friend. Not a bad trade.
Location, Location, Location…
From its central location on Burrard, the hotel is less than 10 minutes from what’s known as the “Luxury Zone,” on Alberni Street. Think Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Louis Vuitton…You get the idea.
The area also hosts several of the city's top restaurants.
A couple of my favorites...
Coast
Fresh seafood and sushi are the primary focus at Coast, but there's something for everyone on the menu.
Sitting in the "outdoor" room fronting Alberni Street is my favorite spot in a restaurant full of favorite places.
Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House
Around the corner, you'll find Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House.
Dining at Joe’s is a refresher course in hospitality. From the moment you announce at the host stand until you say goodbye on your way out, you'd be hard-pressed to complain about how you're treated, your food, or the quality of your experience.
What’s on the menu? The name says it all.
If the rooftop patio is open and the day is nice, it always gets my vote as the place to sit.
Activities -
Fly Over Canada
Enjoy an immersive, visual overview of all the Canadian provinces with Fly Over Canada. If you’ve been to Disneyland or Disney World, you might have experienced something similar. This is better.
I can’t get enough of it and go every time I'm in town.
Don’t forget that GlobauxSource can help you with destination and site selection, local suppliers, and anything else you might need to deliver a successful program in Vancouver, or the world. It’s what we do.
