PictureTravel makes Michele thirsty.
Vancouver is truly one of my favorite cities. In the past, we’ve spent up to 3 weeks at a time there more than once. That was always in August. We’ve also spent Christmas there, Michele’s Bday, long weekends, 4th of July and the list goes on. Did I mention it’s one of my favorite cities?

In a silent auction at an industry event I had purchased a certificate for 2 nights at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in a Fairmont Gold room, including Fairmont Gold Lounge access. WOW! We loved the room product, the common areas of the property were comfortable, hip and a bee hive of activity. But the best part was access to the lounge. Spacious, comfortable, well appointed, impeccable service plus daily breakfast, snacks and an honor bar second to none. This was my home away from home during our stay in the hotel.

From there we moved on to the just opened (only 2 weeks before) JW Marriott. Once again I had bought a certificate for 3 nights in a 1 br. Suite. Once I connected with the hotel sales staff to make my reservation they offered to host an additional 2 nights in in a corner room at the Hotel Douglas, a boutique Marriott Autograph collection property connected to the JW via the conference level. Two very different hotels, each special in their own way. We loved it all.

As always, the restaurant scene was vital and exciting. A repeat visit to Nightingale, dinner at AnnaLina, taking the Sea Bus across to Lonsdale Quay, North Van, for dinner at Gusto Di Quattro (the Fettuccine Ghiottone, aka Glutton’s Fettuccine, is amazing and something we don’t see on other menus) and dinner at Season’s in the Park for the amazing views looking back at the city. All this plus more that I would be happy to repeat with every visit.

My favorite activity was also a repeat from one of our previous visits – FlyOver Canada. Located at Canada Place on the pier over the water looking across at Grouse Mountain. If you want to see all of the grandeur that Canada has to offer, you need to do this. A 360-degree look at Canada coast to coast and every province, in a way you could never imagine. I won’t spoil it for you. You have to see it for yourself.

No trip up to Whistler this visit. That's on the list for our next trip. There is no place quite like it.

It was an early transfer to the airport for our return after an amazing week. Back to the real world!
